2. Modern art and QoL
Our first destination will be the Museum of Twentieth Century (Museo del Novecento in Italian), close to Piazza del Duomo.
Opened in December 2010, this museum is the home of Italian and international Twentieth Century’s art in Italy: noteworthy are the sections dedicated to Futurism, Spatialism and Arte povera. The collection includes masterpiece of Italian artists such as Modigliani, De Chirico, Pellizza Da Volpedo, Boccioni, Balla, Carrà, Fontana, Artworks of Morandi, Sironi. Picasso, Kandinskij, Braque, Mondrian, Klee and Matisse are also visible. The first room of the Museum shows the symbol painting of the museum itself: The Fourth Estate by Pellizza Da Volpedo.
The tour continues with the great lakes: Lago di Como and Villa Balbianello, one of the most beautiful and romantic Villas on Lake Como. this wonderful villa is located on an enchanting promontory in the centre of Lake Como and was constructed by Cardinal Durini in the 18th century.
The next destination is Lago Lugano with Villa Fogazzaro Roi. Overlooking out across the Italian shore of Lake Lugano, Villa Fogazzaro Roi is the inspiring, peaceful place in which Antonio Fogazzaro spent long periods of his life. The villa is still highly evocative of the descriptions given in Fogazzaro's novel, The Little World of the Past
Lago Maggiore comes next, with a navigation which will allow the discovery of Stresa, Verbania and the Borromean Islands.
Spangled with magnificent gardens, as Gustave Flaubert said "The Isola Madre, an earthly paradise. Trees with golden leaves the sun gilded”.
An itinerary for those who look for an itinerary to relief their mind with enchanting landscapes and a taste for details…. Superb landscapes, superb food, superb wine!
